EMERALD DRIVE

8/27/2021

A custom-built home by Alair Homes Grey Bruce featured in the heart of beautiful Southampton.

We had the joy of assisting a wonderful couple with the design of their new beachside home. The process started with thoughtfully planning the many areas of the home that included custom cabinetry. From there, we continued to assist the client with the design process by helping them select all their finishes; from flooring to wall colour, lighting, and plumbing fixtures.

This home’s heartbeat is the kitchen, where we were able to help our client’s vision come to life. We designed this home to have a traditional coastal style. The beautiful wood flooring was the canvas as we layered in a bold blue island with so many custom design details. The Island had to be large to host and entertain guests. The perimeter cabinets we kept light and bright, with the incorporation of glass doors in the upper cabinets to showcase the client’s collectables. Over the double fridge freezer, we carried through more open display space for our client’s unique décor pieces. This open area features beadboard back panel and ambient accent lighting.

We felt that the addition of wood details was a must in this home. We added a wood mantle as part of the custom range hood to help accent large wood beams we custom designed for the inset ceiling in the living room. These beams add so much drama and we love the way the look in this space.

The fireplace and adjacent entertainment cabinets are another beautiful focal point in the open concept living space just off the kitchen. We designed this area to compliment the style of the kitchen cabinetry and added a wood mantle and shelving in the same stain as the other wood details to tie everything together. The homeowner went with a classic black marble herringbone tile around the fire insert.

By passing through custom dark dramatic double swing doors, a lovely laundry / mudroom area can be found off the main living space that features beautiful deep blue cabinetry. The cabinets add character as well as functionality to this space.

A walk-in pantry and three bathrooms also show off some wonderful finishes that Blended Interiors helped the client select. These areas incorporate amazing tile and lighting selections that help make this custom built home unique!

TESTIMONIAL

Firstly, we would like to thank Courtney and Donna of Blended Interiors for the great experience we had working with them.

They handled our indecisiveness over the kitchen design very well to eventually produce a kitchen that absolutely works for us, and we just love the result. The kitchen backsplash choice for us was one of the hardest decisions we had to make. We were back and forth many times trying to choose between tile designs. Given that Covid-19 had just set in we ended up making our final decision from products laid out in the parking lot of Blended Interiors. We couldn’t be happier with the backsplash we picked!

They didn’t just assist us with the Kitchen design but continued throughout the open concept to create a beautiful wall with the fireplace as the focal point. The dark classic beams in the eleven-foot ceiling of the living room and dining area gave us an open concept that has the expansive feel we were looking for.

One of our favourite outcomes was painting the ceiling Benjamin Moore’s “Marilyn’s Dress”, a very light off blue, in the living room and dinning room between the magnificent beams.

How many people can say the love their laundry room? Our custom cabinets in the laundry room are the same colour as the kitchen island which added a nice flow of colour from one room to the other.

The design of our walk-in closet connected to the very large primary bedroom works very well, giving us plenty of room for hanging space, open shelving for shoes, lots of pull-out drawers for clothing and ample space for changing.

We just love the three bathrooms with different designs that flow very well from connecting areas. The beautiful bathroom cabinets were outsourced from different suppliers. Courtney and Donna helped us pick the right finishes for each cabinet to work with the tile and colours we picked for the bathrooms.

Most importantly Courtney and Donna worked very well with our project manager Nathan Ward of Alair Homes to create the custom design we were looking for throughout the main level and fully finished basement.
